Sree Kanteerava Studios Limited

Kanteerava Studios is a public film studio in Bangalore, Karnataka, predominantly used for the production of Kannada language movies from Kannada film industry. Kanteerava Studios was established on March 18 of 1966, with the encouragement and cooperation of the Late. Sri. Gubbi Veeeranna, Tipatur S. KariBasavaiah, K.V. Shankaregowda, Andanappa Doddameti, Rathnavarma Hegade, Mastermind of the Integration S. Nijalingappa, D. Kemparaja Urs.


Number of film-makers, working in several Indian languages, pioneered the growth and development of Indian cinema, the studio system began to emerge in the early 1930s. Kanteerava Studios is one of the oldest and largest film oriented Enterprises in the country.


The Studio’s task is to develop and sustain ways and means through which the creative and aesthetic sensibilities of the people remain active and dynamic in the ‘Sandalwood’. The functional spectrum of this Studio is wide, ranging from generating socio- cultural awareness at grassroots level to promoting cultural exchanges at international level.

Administration: The Master Plan for Sree Kanteerava Studio seeks to enable the Karnataka State’s continued transformation in a predictable and coordinated manner, while protecting and reinforcing the distinct and defining characteristics that are central to its sustained success. These characteristics include the entertainment related functions, diverse mix of uses, and the historic ‘brick and beam’ structures. Also important to the vision are the compelling ideas and guidance for improving the public realm to create beautiful and memorable streets and public spaces.

Goal: Sree Kanteerava Studio is intending to build itself into an international blockbuster shooting and production highland, digital film service export, digital film exhibition and communication, digital film talent internship, and digital film entertainment experience highland in the long run at international level.
Studio is planning to, within the next 3-5 years, take in approximately 500 companies of film and its derivative industries 30,000-50,000 experts and talents, apply for over 10-15 international films for release and make 30-40 domestic films or TV series each year. The capacity of film production and new media business is estimated to produce an output value about Rupees 20 Cr. every year.

Orientation: Entire film system composed of declaration, shooting, production & circulation. From shooting to the later-phase production, setting up a film talent entrepreneur and training system, and eventually joining in the global film industrial chain as an internationally well-known film industry base.

By articulating a long-term vision to work towards, the Master Plan helps on-going decisions that impact the physical environment of the District. The Master Plan also provides benchmarks and standards for developers and sets priorities for investments in the public realm.

Mission Statement: The mission of the SreeKanteerava Studio is to preserve, promote and disseminate all forms of art and culture Through the Film Industry. Kanteerava is providing better Infrastructure to nurture the ‘Sandalwood’ in better manner. In order to achieve this, the department undertakes the following activities:

  2. Promotion of literary, visual and performing arts.
  3. Observation of centenaries and anniversaries of important Kannada Film personalities and events.
  4. Promotion of institutional and individual non-official initiatives in the field of Film.
  5. The functional spectrum of the ‘Kanteerava’ ranges from creating cultural awareness from the grass root level to the international cultural exchange level.
